Did You Know?

  1. Earth is the third planet from the Sun, in the Solar System.
  2. Earth weighs approximately 5.97*10^24 kg.
  3. The Earth's gravity is approximately 9.81 m/s^2 (also referred to as the acceleration due to gravity).
  4. Earth's continents include: North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, Oceania and Antarctica (however it is subject to debate since it is inhabitable due to its extremely low temperatures).
  5. Around 70% of the Earth's surface is water.

Looking back at two devastating Tropical Cyclones that hit parts of Southern Africa, as well as the effects of their destructions. Cyclone Eline Summary This cyclone dates back to 1 February 2000 when it was first discovered. It was also on this day when the cyclone was formed in the Australian basin. Initially it was named Cyclone Leon until it gain intensity after crossing 90 degrees east of the South-West Indian Ocean. It was at this time when it received the name Cyclone Eline (hence Cyclone Leon-Eline).
